Missione Possibile Hong Kong (MPHK) is asking if your company or organisation will choose MPHK is their official Lai See charity in 2018.

All you need to do is place Lai See envelopes at each of your employees desks so that they can make an anonymous and non obligatory donation which can then be collected.

MPHK will provide the branded Lai See packets, along with an information card about our work. We also welcome the opportunity to present to talk about MPHK further.

We have built and operate both a Primary and Secondary school, located 1.5 hour from Phnom Penh, and currently have over 550 students.

Your Lai See collection will go a long way in supporting our children and schools. A little makes a world of difference.

HK$75              1 Year of books for a primary student
HK$100            1 Year of books for a secondary student
HK$155            2 sets of uniform for a student
HK$775            1 month of school maintenance

HK$1550          1 month salary for a secondary teacher
HK$2325          1 month school running costs

We are also about to undertake an expansion program for the Secondary school, for which we need to raise UD$35,000. You can help us get this project kick started!!!

MPHK is a Hong Kong registered charitable institution exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance.

We need your help to enhance and change the lives of our students for the better.
Help us educate them and give them hope for a brighter future!

How You Can Help and Why This Is So Vital

There is always something that appears on our radar, big or small, that needs funding either immediately or in the near future. There are so many projects that are vital to our school that it can seem a never-ending list of things we need to raise funds for. Regular donations – such as a monthly payment – give us something that is so important: the ability to plan ahead and undertake projects, knowing that we have a set amount of funding available to us. It builds up our ability to ensure vital aspects of our work can continue. Below is an example of what each amount, in Hong Kong dollars, can provide. One-off donations are deeply appreciated, but a monthly donation of as little as HK$300 can create a true lasting difference for us.

You can choose your level of donation each month – for example, HK$300, HK$500 or another set amount.

Once you set up a simple direct payment through our Simply Giving website, then you will receive our e-newsletter on occasion to update you of our progress, and your donation reaches us with no further effort required from you! When you “sponsor” MPHK – you are helping our children, our school – a village. Not just one particular child. Every cent goes directly to our work, as we are all 100% volunteers.

A small amount of money can make a great difference.  Big or small, every dollar counts.
  • HK$50            1 year of books for a primary school student
  • HK$150          1 year of books for a secondary school student
  • HK$200          2 sets of uniform for a student
  • HK$1000        1 month of school maintenance
  • HK$1400        1 month salary for a primary school teacher
  • HK$1700        1 month salary for a secondary school teacher
  • HK$2500        1 month school running costs
  • HK$4000        1 month gasoline for mobile clinic transport
  • HK$4500        1 month salary for a mobile clinic doctor
  • HK$9500        1 month medicine supply for mobile clinic

HOW IMPORTANT IS NUTRITION TO YOU?

What will you spend your next HK$7 on?
Will it make a life changing impact on your life?
How important is nutrition in your life and the lives of your children?

MPHK does not only provide a full education for the 550 students in our school, but we support them in their health goals too. For only HK$7 per week, you can provide a child with their daily banana, egg and milk to see them through their school day. Without this vital supply, some children simply do not get their nutritional needs met, meaning they cannot focus, concentrate and fully enjoy their day at school.

We are desperately seeking to cover this cost for each of our 550 students due to previous funding having come to an end.

Through this initiative we can give our students a great step forward in their health and learning needs.

The total annual financial support we need to ensure every child receives these basic essentials HK$187,000.
  • HK$1.4 per child per day
  • HK$340 per child per year

Good nutrition is widely recognized to be an essential element in the ability to lead a healthy and productive life. Yet poor nutrition remains a critical problem in rural Cambodia where a daily diet consists of rice and sugary snacks.

CAN YOU HELP? PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT MIGHT HELP IN OUR URGENT NEED TO FUND THIS ESSENTIAL PROGRAMME.

“Your future means something”

Written by Olivia Crooke, Vice President of MPHK

Cambodia has been deeply in my heart and life since studying its history from 15 years old at school. But days like today aren’t so happy, when we are with our mobile medical clinics in some of the most dire situations, where the children don’t have the hope of the new school year, and there is currently no real possibility in each of their tomorrows.

But rather than give into despair, we feel compelled to continue and keep growing so we can make a difference and never give up. At Missione Possibile we say CHANGE ONE LIFE, CHANGE THE WORLD. And that is the reason we will stay committed.

Even one hug, one smile, can inspire. It can transcend language barriers, and even when the problem looks just too big, it never really is acceptable to us to give into that philosophy if we remember that bit by bit, small changes can lead to a better future.

Today we were at a new site where our mobile medical clinic is now operating, bringing medical care to those who are cut off from society, hidden away in landfills. Forgotten.

I don’t feel exactly happy right now, and it never stops affecting me seeing this, but the more time we spend, and the more often we come back and stay committed to our work, the more I am reminded that there is no difference between us as people. It’s just circumstance.

I live to protect my kids and give them a life of joy. I cannot fathom how the mums I meet here endeavour to do that with their kids when each day they live in this. Because they want the same thing as I do. Safety, security, happiness. We have so many wonderful success stories - and so many more developing right before our eyes with our amazing and resilient students and their families!

So for those people who remain on the edges of society, living in the most unbelievably challenging conditions, we are making a start with medical care, food, clothing and our continual presence with our amazing team here in Cambodia and all of us who come here so regularly. It’s a start. And that start is simply showing that someone cares. You are not forgotten. You mean something. Your future means something.

Our schools and our 500+ children are living proof that every single person that supports us IS helping to make a true difference. I feel, as always, humbled and honoured to be a part of them, and a part of our MPHK team.

My Life Changing Experience

“This trip for me has honestly been a life changing and eye-opening experience. Growing up, my mum has always told me and my sister how lucky we are, and I always thought I knew what she meant. But, I can honestly say that no one can ever properly understand how lucky they are without doing a trip like this and experiencing something so real.

It’s so amazing that everyday these children go to school and they are so happy just to be there, to think that they were never told that they should smile at you or to come up to hug you - it is just all from their hearts!

There was one little boy with down syndrome that really touched my heart. Unfortunately the school cannot provide for his learning disability but every morning he is still at the school still smiling and having fun.

Because of his learning disability he does face very different challenges but he doesn’t let that affect him! Something that really impacted me about the trip was the fact that the children who went to the school with relatively nothing, were actually the lucky ones, compared to children who cannot attend school for different reasons.

We went to a village that recently had a fire and many homes were destroyed, it was so heart breaking to see these families with absolutely nothing and to understand how lucky we all are and how much we take for granted.

The past few days after coming back home and coming back to the life of being so fortunate and lucky is shocking because the simple things that we are able to do that these kids will never be able to do, and something that we all have lost any value for.

A key thing that I will take back from this experience is that although these families have nothing, we cannot let it affect our lives because it is their reality not ours, we can only let it affect the way we can help change their lives.

Thank you to Missione Possibile for helping me be a part of this amazing learning experience and this amazing one of a kind mission, this learning experience will always stay with me and will never be forgotten!

Teaching the teachers

22/4/2016

I love teaching. I love walking in to a class and feeling the energy radiating from those little bodies. I love the challenge of finding a way to explain a concept that they can’t quite get their heads around. I love feeding off that and creating a lesson right there on the spot.

It was with this passion that I went on my first trip to Roong Primary School in May 2015. Having heard all the chatter of excitement from Audrey and Mindy on their previous trip, I wanted to go along and train the teachers. I wanted the HK team to leave something with the teachers that could continue long after we left.

I had no idea how receptive the teachers would be to me, a foreigner with little knowledge of their culture, teaching philosophy or curriculum. I had spoken to Jussara and had some ideas on topics I could teach them but there was no fixed agenda. By the end of two days of teacher training, all the staff at the primary school had been given training on using games in the classroom, group work activities, how to motivate the students, classroom management and Q&A on challenges they face in the classroom. They were willing to learn and eager to try new things. By the end of the first day, one teacher had moved his desks from the traditional rows into groups. Slowly, more tried this. This is testament to how open the teachers were to new ideas. They kept asking me when I was going to return, eager to get more ideas and training to help them in their job of educating young Cambodians in skills that would keep them out of the factories and into professionally skilled work. Teachers would stop me around the school with questions, and I realized telling them, training them was not enough. I had to get in the class and show them. Frustrated with the lack of time I vowed to return.

In the summer of 2015 I got that opportunity. I went back alone, without the support of the HK team to take over the teaching of all the students to free up the teachers. I would have four full days, more time to make a difference. I had more time in the classrooms working side by side with the teachers implementing strategies we had discussed on my previous visit. However, the big project came to me during the break on the first day. I went to take a closer look at the library. Before I knew it I was pulling all the books off the shelves together with the principal and librarian. We fixed, cleaned and categorized all the books, color coded them, cleaned and rearranged the shelves, made signs and wrote up lists of rules for display. Best of all we had the older students help with color coding all the books. They worked through their break, so happy and motivated to give back to their school. All the students and staff of both the primary and secondary school were trained in how to use the library, a place they all use every week.

It was hard to leave the school. An amazing group of hard working, caring and enthusiastic teachers. I can’t wait to return in May 2016 to give more and in return get so much more.

Team trip to Cambodia

21/2/2016

On January 23rd our team from Italy and Hong Kong visited Missione Possibile's Roong School and the villages and sites where our mobile clinic operates. We spent four days visiting communities, delivering supplies and donated items, running sessions at our school for the children, and of course opening the brand new volleyball court in loving memory of Marco, husband of one of our team members, Martina Bin and a dear friend to many in the team. Not only this, but we also had the INTER CAMPUS coaches on their annual visit (more in the link below), creating great excitement amongst the children with amazing new uniforms and three days of coaching! This was fantastic trip for all, and it was wonderful to spend time with the children and communities we continue to support.

Our heartfelt thank you

"Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
2015 has just ended and this is the best moment to say thank you to you.
As you know, our mission is to reach people who are fighting for survival and who are deeply in need.
We provide support to many children so that they can live in better conditions, access education, learn via sporting activities, drink clean water and eat better food. Plus, with our mobile clinic, we offer medical assistance to thousands of men, women and children, and create jobs locally which contribute to economic development.
We bring hope and love to people, strongly believing that each person is unique and marvelous, deserving respect and freedom.
2015 was a year of new challenges and difficulties, not always easy to deal with. The educational project that we started in 2005 with a primary school has now developed into including a new middle school. These schools help children who come from six villages in Cambodia and, at the start of the school year last October, we had 480 pupils divided into 18 classes.
Most of the pupils who attend our schools come from very poor families, even today their modest houses do not have toilets, running water, drinkable water or electricity. The parents of the pupils are usually farmers or factory workers and it is not always easy to talk to them about school and family issues.
In June and July tropical storms destroyed the roof of the schools as well as several houses in the nearby villages. We had to carry out important works to repair and actually rebuild the whole roof of the middle school, which was not only disruptive, but also expensive. We are very grateful that both teachers and pupils were unharmed.
Thanks to your precious contribution we will be able to help thousands of people in Cambodia in 2016 as well!
Best wishes from the team of Missione Possibile.
